Match report - Brickfield Rangers

First Team 1 - 0 Brickfield Rangers.  Welsh National League Premier Division 06/02/10

Corwen were back on league duty, and needed 3 points to lift them up the table.

Corwen started the game very positively, putting Brickfield under a lot of pressure.  Sion Roberts making his debut lead Corwen’s front line, where he liked up well with Calvin Davies on several occasions, and they made the visitors goalkeeper pull off some fine saves.

The score line going into the interval was 0-0.

The second half saw Corwen capitalise on their dominance by getting the breakthrough they deserved.

Corwen introduced Ryan Billington with half an hour to go, and with one of his first touches he thread the ball through for Calvin Davies to slot home.

The home side continued to dominate, and they should have increased their lead when Sion Roberts was clean through, but he pulled his shot wide.

Goalkeeper Gareth Roberts who was a spectator for most of the game, but he was called upon in the last 10 minutes, when he pulled off two fine saves.

Corwen held out for the 3 points, which were well deserved for the home side, and hopefully will be the start of a good run.
