Corwen Man of the match: James Davies
The match took place on a heavy pitch, which was not in the best condition due to the recent heavy rain, and with the juniors playing on the pitch in the morning.
Corwen took the lead in the opening 5 minutes through James Davies, scoring his 4th goal of the season. Both side’s continued to create chances, but it was the visitors who scored next, as Ryan Billington failed to make a tackle, allowing the Ruthin striker to place the ball beyond Nathan Aldridge’s reach. This wasn’t the end to the events in the first half though, as Ruthin were down to 10 men before the interval as one of their players was dismissed for foul and abusive language aimed at the referee.
The home side’s chances of retaking the lead were given a blow at half time, as Ben Williams, who had scored in every game he has played in this season, had to be substituted with a groin injury. He was replaced by ex Ruthin Youth player Tom Mowby.
However Corwen were able to score early in the second half, as Ryan Williams crossed the ball in, and a Ruthin defender deflected the ball over his own goalkeeper while under pressure from Dominic Jones.
